What is your background?
My background is Electronics and IT. I first started a company called Rhythmic Beats which provided DJ & Dancers in organised Dance Raves between 1990-1993. I did this whilst studying in University and working the Local Authority within the Education dept, whilst also looking after the IT in a large school. With a change in the rave scene, I used my talent elsewhere in which I built and ran a Bulletin Board called Chaos BBS (this was before the days of the Internet), supplying vast amounts of information.
How did the business start?
The business started in 1994, with people asking for problems to be fixed; which then went from strength to strength.
What are you working on right now?
I’m currently working on an IoT (Internet of Things) project. It’s like adding a washing machine to the Internet which in turn does everything automatically.
Where do you see your business in 10 years?
In 10 years I’d like to see a lot more clients and have more automated systems. I’d also like to employ more staff. My dream was to visit Hong Kong, which I achieved in 2016 whilst presenting a toaster with a difference I had built to over 3500 businesses.
Aside from the business, is there anything else you are involved in at the moment?
I run a FREE Business Networking Event, where without pressure anyone can attend and have a drink talk to other businesses and can make connections at a more social level, rather than completely professional.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I had always wanted to be my own boss, although there was time when I considered being an Astronaut. I then discovered my flair for electronics and the rest is history as they say.
What gets you out of bed each morning ?
I love facing new challenges and being able to create or offer solutions to make clients’ lives easier. I like to help people.
What is one piece of advice would you give to other young entrepreneurs starting out?
Do: Attend Networking Events even before you start. It is essential to get feedback, make strong contacts and leave a good lasting impression, therefore ensuring people will want to work with you.
Don’t: Put your private life on social media, and apply an element of caution in your business endeavours.
