Go wild@fourteen locks!

Join us for an amazing free family fun day between 10am – 4pm on Wednesday 22nd August. Learn about the stunning wildlife that lives on our doorstep including the amazing people that help protect it. We have Gwent wild life and Newport’s Green team, bug finding and surveys, Gwent bee keepers including locally produced honey, fire pit and marshmallows, story time with Maindee library, hedgehog helpline, face painter, plant sales and more! Keep them busy this summer, not all class rooms have four walls.

Heritage day

Step back in time to our Heritage centre on Sunday 2nd September to celebrate the end of WW1.

Help us create a community piece of our own history with our 6 ft floor loom! Other smaller spinners and looms will be available on the day. Listen to the history of Newport with guest speaker and author Andrew Hemmings and his book Secret Newport from 11am – 12pm.
Also Sylvia Mason, author of every women remembered, paying tribute to Newport women who survived the war. Hear about their contribution from 1pm – 2pm. Both books can be signed and purchased on the day. The archives will be available to view with amazing facts and photo’s about South Wales history and heritage of the Monmouthshire, Brecon and Abergavenny Canal. Delicious home made food will be served all day including Trench cake and WW1 carrot cake!
