As a working mum of three, finding time to relax is few and far between. Days spent at the spa are rare, but are by far my favourite way to wind down away from work. Recently, I was lucky enough to enjoy a well-deserved break at Health and Serenity Spa; a health spa and resort in the heart of Newport. The spa offers a number of treatments, from luxury spa to high-quality beauty.

When I visited the spa, I opted for the new “Paradise” pack, which claims to be the spa’s ‘most luxurious package yet.

First, I was welcomed by the friendly receptionist, who took me the calming sleep suite. I enjoyed a relaxing herbal tea, changed into the provided dressing gown and slippers, and began to relax before my therapist, Jade joined me.

My experience began with a coconut foot ritual. I have never experienced a foot spa like it; my feet were submerged in warm coconut milk, while Jade put rose petals in before I soaked my feet. She then used a scrub to gently massage my feet and legs – my feet felt brand new!

After this, I received a full back scrub. I could choose from a variety of oils and scrubs, imported from the Maldives, to choose from. I eventually chose one of my favourite scents, lavender. Then, Jade carefully removed the scrub and oils using warm mitts.

This was followed by the Lomi Lomi massage; a spiritual, therapeutic massage that relieves muscle tension and physical stress. Jade used aromatic Maldivian oils to massage my skin, relieving my everyday worries and stress. The massage was out of this world, I even drifted off towards the end. Now I felt calm and ultimately relaxed, my therapist kneaded my entire body to release any remaining worries and stress I may be holding onto.

Afterward, I was escorted to the hair salon, where I was treated further with a scalp massage, followed by a wash and blow dry. The hair stylist, Jess, was very friendly and left me feeling very fabulous.

To end the day, I finished with an afternoon tea. If you have a sweet tooth like me, the selection of sweet treats will be right up your street. I could taste from a selection of scones, jam and cream, fresh fruit and homemade cakes, washed down with a tea or coffee, or my choice; a glass of champagne.

If you’re looking for a day to destress and unwind, or you’d like to treat someone special, I couldn’t recommend choosing one of the spa packages at Health and Serenity Spa enough.
