[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]imageAn elegant and relaxed restaurant in the Centre of both Newport and Cardiff, Bistrot Pierre provides the best in French Cuisine. The Newport branch is situated at the heart of the new Friars Walk complex within the City Centre and is the branch we were lucky enough to visit for lunch…

As you step through the doors you are transported away from the streets of Newport and enter a chic French restaurant. We were welcomed by our server, shown to our table and given the menus to look over. I was immediately impressed by the range of dishes they had on the menu, including plenty of delicious looking gluten-free dishes.

For our appetiser we chose the ‘Saucisson’, which is thin slices of French ‘Label Rouge’ saucisson from the Beaujolais region, similar to Salami. This is a dish that neither of us had tried before or would have usually selected; but we wanted to try something new, and we were not disappointed.13625202_10153669822767321_834813837_n The dish was so delicious I would definitely order it again without hesitation.
Next came our starters, I chose the Calamari with roasted garlic mayonnaise and Gemma went for the special of the day – a crab salad. We were both so impressed by this course that we wondered if it could be topped by the main dishes. All the dishes were freshly prepared and you could tell used quality ingredients.

rump steak which was served with crispy pomme frites, dressed leaves and a choice of sauce. Gemma chose the black pepper butter to accompany and I went with the red wine and shallot jus. The meat was cooked to perfection and was so flavoursome and tender.

Our time at Bistrot Pierre really was first-class, the restaurant’s character and French vibes were perfectly complimented by its friendly and attentive staff. With a lovely atmosphere, great food and friendly and efficient service, you really can’t fault Bistrot Pierre. We had a fabulous afternoon and will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu.

The restaurant is open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have something for everyone, from the two-course prix-fixe lunch for £10.95 to the two course pre theatre menu for £14.95 and the evening à la carte menu. Review by Alice Line
