Giovanni’s at Park Place
The first thing I noticed when I stepped into Giovanni’s Park Place restaurant was the wall of fame. The walls are completely covered with photos of Celebrities and Welsh Legends, such as Tom Jones, enjoying themselves at the Cardiff restaurant. Obviously Giovanni’s is very popular with the A-listers so I was extremely excited to try it for myself…
We were shown to our table by our waiter and given the menus to look over. After much deliberation we went for a platter of smoked salmon, prawn cocktail and avocado and the Patê. Both were absolutely delicious and just the right size of portion for a starter.
While waiting on our main course the waiters were very attentive to us – checking on us and making sure our glasses were always filled. We had chosen for the main course a Margarita Pizza, the famous Lasagna and a chicken and pasta dish with a tomato sauce with vegetables. Each of the dishes was of excellent quality and I only wish I could have tried the whole menu – another visit is definitely needed I think.
You could just tell the dishes were authentically Italian and they were so, so tasty! The pizza was quite a large portion…which meant I could take my leftovers home with me to have again for my dinner.
The desert menu was very tempting and we simply couldn’t resist. We went for the chocolate cake with ice-cream and the tiramisu. Both these dishes were quickly devoured as they were just too good to even leave a single crumb behind!
To finish the meal off we were treated to a shot of Limoncello – my favourite! A great way to finish off a great meal.
The restaurant itself is family run and has such a cosy atmosphere making you feel as though you have been whisked off to Italy. It’s a great place for all to enjoy, to go as a family, couple, or just for a friendly get together.
I can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait for my next visit.
