Local Link Reviews: Wok to Go

Do you ever get bored of the same old sandwiches you bring into work for lunch? Here at the Local Link Magazine office, we fancied switching up our packed lunch for something fresh and healthy for a midday pick-me-up. Enter Wok To Go: a new kind of takeaway that brings the taste of oriental food to your doorstop or desktop. You can find them on Caerphilly Road in Birchgrove, where they open at 11am available for pick-up or delivery from 5 or 6 until 10.30pm, so your lunch and dinner time plans are sorted.

For the lunch time menu, you are three steps away from a nutritious meal. First, you choose from a selection of bases; second, you pick your favourite meat, fish or vegetable option; and last, select one of the tasty sauces – served until 4.30pm.

First up, Alice picked the fried rice as her base; duck, peppers and cashew nuts as her favourite fillings; and sweet and sour sauce to finish. Next, Gemma chose the thick egg noodles as her base; chicken as her favourite filling; and satay sauce as her sauce. Gemma found the satay sauce was a lot less peanutty and spicier than the traditional type, which made a pleasant change. Lastly, Rachel had the rice as her base; chicken, baby corn and broccoli as her favourite fillings; and Thai Green curry sauce as her tasty flavour.

All the meals tasted fresh and light; the perfect midday meal for on the go, or at the desk. With lunch served until 4:30pm, missing lunch becomes a myth. Wok To Go is the go-to weekday spot for healthy food in the heart of Cardiff, where I have a feeling we’re going to become regulars! Evening menu also has a huge choice of dishes which I have to try!
