Hello Readers,

I hope you are all safe and well during this difficult period. I just wanted to share a bit of guidance with you that will hopefully benefit you physically and mentally.

Sedentary behaviour and a general lack of physical activity will have a negative impact on your health and well-being. Couple this with isolation from others and it could have a very detrimental effect on you. This is why it is so important to exercise. 3-5 workouts a week is highly achievable even with the closures of gyms and a lack of equipment. A workout doesn’t have to mean a gruelling weights session or hours of cardio.

Diet is also extremely important and I know it can be tempting to let good habits slip, but it will just make it harder to recover once the current circumstances change. Try to eat as little processed food as possible and plenty of wholesome foods and fruit and veg.

We’ve been pretty lucky with the weather and with pubs, clubs and restaurants closed, the temptation is there to drink more at home. By all means enjoy yourself, make the most of the weather (at home) but please practice moderation. Use this weather to get out and walk! But please enforce social distancing. If you are working from home, make sure you take short breaks throughout the day to allow the mind to reset. This is just as important as physical activity!

Thanks to social media platforms there is so much free online content such as home workouts and live classes to join in with. I run a metabolic conditioning class live on facebook every Saturday morning from 10am. Come and join in, have some fun and try something new if you haven’t already!

For those without equipment or who would like to get a good workout at home, Santé Fitness glute bands are available to purchase at santefitness.co.uk. Each band comes with an extensive exercise library to ensure you can enjoy a comprehensive and fulfilling workout in the comfort of your own home.

I am always available via social media if you have any questions. Remember the old saying guys, “healthy body, healthy mind”.
